2009年11月11日下午，中国原创歌剧《木兰诗篇》将在日本东京学习院创立百年纪念会馆首演，这是总政歌舞团在日本巡演的第一场，之后他们还将去札幌等地演出。
花木兰代父从军的故事是中国题材，2004年，这一故事被创作成歌剧《木兰诗篇》，不但在中国受到上演，还在美国、奥地利上演。这次赴日演出，《木兰诗篇》又经过中日两国演职人员的重新制作，总政歌舞团团长彭丽媛任艺术总监，雷佳、谭晶、王丽达等主演木兰，中国指挥家李玉宁和日本指挥家堤俊作将联合执棒指挥日本皇家交响乐团演奏，中方演出队伍达110多人。

On the afternoon of November 11, 2009, the original Chinese opera *Mulan* premiered at the Gakushuin Centennial Memorial Hall in Tokyo, Japan. This was the first performance of the General Political Department Song and Dance Troupe's tour in Japan, after which they would perform in Sapporo and other cities.
The story of Hua Mulan taking her father's place in the army is a Chinese theme. In 2004, this story was adapted into the opera *Mulan*, which was performed not only in China but also in the United States and Austria. For this performance in Japan, "The Ballad of Mulan" has been re-produced by Chinese and Japanese performers. Peng Liyuan, head of the General Political Department Song and Dance Troupe, serves as artistic director. Lei Jia, Tan Jing, Wang Lida, and others play the lead role of Mulan. Chinese conductor Li Yuning and Japanese conductor Tsutsumi Shunsaku will jointly conduct the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Japan. The Chinese performance team consists of more than 110 people.
