国务委员孟建柱视察常州科教城

2008年11月22日，国务委员、中央综治委副主任、中央政法委副书记、公安部部长孟建柱在中央政法委副秘书长陈冀平，江苏省委书记梁保华，省长罗志军，省委常委、政法委书记林祥国，省长助理、省公安厅厅长黄明，市委书记范燕青等陪同下视察了常州科教城。

孟建柱先后视察了常州科教城高职教育园区、现代工业中心实训基地、现代设计与制造中心、中科院常州先进制造技术研发与产业化中心等。一路上，他不时询问科教城的建设、产学研对接等情况。孟建柱说，在这么短的时间，把这么多的科研院所引进来，真不容易，而且有的已经投产并产生经济效益，就更不容易。他在中科院沈阳计算技术研究所常州分中心询问一位负责人，你为什么愿意到这儿创业？这位负责人笑着回答：这儿的工作环境好，创业氛围好，后勤保障好，特别是常州市委、市政府对我们十分关心重视，有许多优惠政策，我们在这儿工作很舒心。孟建柱高兴地说，不错。

视察中，孟建柱对常州的经济社会各项工作给予好评。他说，上世纪八十年代，常州作为全国改革发展的实验区，常州的工业、特别是轻工业发展很快，并在许多方面进行了大胆改革。进入新的世纪，常州更是步入快速发展的轨道，这次来常州看一看，一个崭新的现代化城市呈现在眼前，城市面貌日新月异、各项事业蒸蒸日上，特别是科技创新，为常州注入更大活力。面对当前严峻的经济形势，希望常州进一步解放思想，抢抓中央扩大内需发展机遇，攻坚克难，改革创新，充分依靠常州制造业的优势，加大投入，加强产学研合作，把更多好的科研成果引进来，并把它转化成为生产力，提升产品的技术含量和市场的竞争力，推进经济又好又快发展，为全国创造更多好的经验。

State Councilor Meng Jianzhu Inspects Changzhou Science and Education City

On November 22, 2008, State Councilor Meng Jianzhu, Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, Deputy Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and Minister of Public Security, inspected Changzhou Science and Education City, accompanied by Chen Jiping, Deputy Secretary-General of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission; Liang Baohua, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee; Luo Zhijun, Governor of Jiangsu Province; Lin Xiangguo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission; Huang Ming, Assistant to the Governor and Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department; and Fan Yanqing, Secretary of the Changzhou Municipal Party Committee.

Meng Jianzhu inspected the Higher Vocational Education Park, the Modern Industrial Center Training Base, the Modern Design and Manufacturing Center, and the Changzhou Advanced Manufacturing Technology R&D and Industrialization Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Along the way, he frequently inquired about the construction of the Science and Education City and the integration of industry, academia, and research. Meng Jianzhu remarked that it was truly remarkable to have attracted so many research institutes in such a short time, and even more remarkable that some had already commenced production and generated economic benefits. During his visit to the Changzhou branch of the Shenyang Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Meng Jianzhu asked a manager why he chose to start his business there. The manager smiled and replied, "The working environment here is good, the entrepreneurial atmosphere is good, and the logistical support is good. In particular, the Changzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government care about us very much and offer many preferential policies. We are very comfortable working here." Meng Jianzhu happily agreed.

During his inspection, Meng Jianzhu praised Changzhou's economic and social development. He said that in the 1980s, as a national experimental zone for reform and development, Changzhou's industry, especially its light industry, developed rapidly, and bold reforms were carried out in many areas. Entering the new century, Changzhou has entered a period of rapid development. This visit to Changzhou has revealed a brand-new, modern city, with its urban landscape changing daily and all undertakings thriving. In particular, technological innovation has injected even greater vitality into Changzhou. Faced with the current severe economic situation, it is hoped that Changzhou will further emancipate its mind, seize the opportunities presented by the central government's expansion of domestic demand, overcome difficulties, reform and innovate, fully rely on the advantages of Changzhou's manufacturing industry, increase investment, strengthen industry-university-research cooperation, introduce more high-quality scientific research results, and transform them into productivity, thereby enhancing the technological content and market competitiveness of products, promoting sound and rapid economic development, and creating more good experiences for the whole country.

Vice Mayor and Director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau Shang Jianrong and Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee Chang Qing also accompanied the inspection.
