Shaanxi Vice Governor Jing Junhai Visits Xi'an Museum to Investigate Scenic Area Construction
On the morning of May 3, 2012, Shaanxi Vice Governor Jing Junhai, accompanied by Yao Chaoying, Deputy Secretary-General of the Provincial Government, visited the Xi'an Museum to investigate the scenic area construction.
Vice Governor Jing and his entourage first visited the Jianfu Temple Historical and Cultural Park near the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. Xiang De, Deputy Director of the Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics and Director of the Xi'an Museum, introduced the main attractions within the park and reported to Vice Governor Jing on the progress of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda's World Heritage application and the surrounding environment's renovation plans.
During the visit, Vice Governor Jing noticed many elderly people enjoying their morning exercises in the beautiful environment. He nodded frequently, pointing out that such a wonderful scenic area should be promoted more vigorously to let more people know about it.
Afterwards, Vice Governor Jing and his entourage went inside the museum, focusing on the basic exhibitions in the second and third districts of the ancient capital and the Buddhist exhibition hall. Upon seeing the historical map of Xi'an on the lobby floor, Governor Jing remarked that the map vividly demonstrated Xi'an's well-deserved reputation as "the ancient capital of China and a city of mountains and rivers." While viewing the artifacts inside the museum, Governor Jing listened attentively to the introductions given by Zhao Rong, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, and other museum staff, frequently inquiring about the artifacts' excavation locations and their distribution throughout the province.
At the end of his visit, Governor Jing commended the Xi'an Museum as a highly suitable tourist attraction. He noted that the exhibits possessed high historical and artistic value, and that the museum effectively combined artifact appreciation with scenic tours. He expressed his hope that more tourists would visit, seeking memories of the city's development and learning about Xi'an's history. He concluded by pointing out that both the Xi'an Museum and the Shaanxi History Museum are distinctive cultural heritage sites, and that future efforts should focus on information exchange between the two institutions to facilitate visitor flow and ensure that visitors can gain valuable insights from their respective experiences.
Yue Huafeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, and Duan Xiannian, Vice Mayor, participated in the research. They were accompanied by the main leaders of the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, Xi'an Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau, Xi'an Municipal Tourism Bureau, and Xi'an Museum.
